All you need to know about our market-leading online faxing service
eFax Corporate is a paperless, cost-effective, outsourced alternative to fax machines and fax servers that enables businesses to send and receive faxes by email — quickly, privately and securely. Access faxes anywhere via any networked computer or mobile device, and eliminate fax hardware, supplies and IT costs and headaches.
Each employee subscribing to eFax Corporate receives their own local or toll-free eFax number linked to their email address.
Receiving faxes: Faxes sent to your eFax number travel across the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). eFax Corporate converts the fax to your choice of a PDF or TIFF file, attaches it to an email and forwards it directly to the employee’s email inbox. For more info, please refer to “How do I receive faxes with eFax Corporate?”
Sending faxes: Faxes can be sent directly from your email inbox. If you don’t have email access, you can also send a fax by logging in to your account. For more info, please refer to “How do I send faxes with eFax Corporate?”
eFax Corporate offers each employee a unique local or toll-free eFax number linked to their email address. Faxes sent to this number are received directly in the employee’s email inbox.
When you receive a fax message with your new eFax fax number, it will arrive as an email in your inbox as a PDF or TIFF file attachment. Simply click or double-click on the email attachment to open your fax. For PDFs, you’ll need Acrobat Reader. For TIFFs, you’ll need eFax Messenger.

Inbound faxes to a toll free number are an additional 2 cents per page. Additional plans are available. These rates apply to fax pages that take less than 60 seconds to transmit, which covers approximately 90% of all fax pages. Graphic-intensive fax pages may take longer than 60 seconds and may be charged as multiple pages.
No. eFax Corporate is managed entirely in the cloud. Your business will not need to install or maintain any onsite hardware or software to operate our cloud faxing solution across your organisation.
eFax Messenger is our free, optional add-on that allows your employees to read faxes received as TIFF or EFX (eFax native) files.
With eFax Messenger, you can also respond to faxes you receive without printing or rescanning the documents. Messenger allows you to annotate, electronically sign and return your approval by fax directly within the Messenger software tool.
You staff will also be able to view, zoom rotate and print their received faxes within the Messenger application, without any advertising in the toolbar of the fax document.
In addition, eFax Messenger enables you to email web pages, screenshot and a variety of other file formats as self-viewing attachments — meaning that the attachment looks and prints just like the original, even in color.
Note: Each eFax Corporate user in your organisation will have to install the eFax Messenger software on their computer or other device to utilise these features.
Not in all cases. If your organisation is interested in a cloud fax solution for fewer than 101 employees, you will have the option to set up a month-to-month service.
Yes. eFax Corporate offers custom fax API integration through our eFax Developer API.
This allows businesses to connect cloud fax capability directly to the workflow and productivity applications that their employees use every day — such as CRM or ERP systems like Salesforce or Sage or, in the case of healthcare organisations, electronic healthcare records systems like Cerner or NextGen. The eFax Developer API enables these direct connections to faxing capability via a simple plug-in XML API. Advanced TLS encryption can also be enabled to increase fax security.
All of these API options allow businesses to more easily and efficiently manage their electronic faxing by enabling their employees to create and send fax documents directly from the productivity applications they use every day.
Yes. When you set up your eFax Corporate service, you can call-forward your existing fax numbers to your new eFax numbers or, in certain circumstances, have your existing fax number ported to eFax.
Yes. eFax’s cloud fax services comply with UK data privacy and security laws, including the Data Protection Act, HSCIC and all applicable NHS regulations.
Our services employ the most advanced encryption protocols for your faxes in transit and the most sophisticated security measures for your faxes at rest in our Tier 3 and Tier 4 secure offsite data centres. Additionally, our solution can guarantee that your data stays in-country at all times, to ensure you stay compliant with any relevant regulations that require your customers’ personally identifiable information never leaves the UK.
This is one of the reasons that eFax is the fax service of choice for UK businesses in the most heavily regulated industries — such as healthcare, financial services, legal and real estate.
Yes. eFax Corporate’s cloud fax solutions can enable the highest levels of encryption for both your inbound and outbound faxes. For sending and receiving secure faxes over eFax Corporate’s secure network, our solution can enable the most advanced encryption standard available today, TLS (Transport Security Layer) 1.2.
For an additional layer of security for your inbound faxes at rest on our cloud, eFax also offers eFax Secure™, which protects all stored faxes 24/7/365 behind multiple levels of security, including password protection, and allows access to these faxes via a secure online portal.
Yes. eFax enables businesses to both send and receive faxes digitally, either by email or through a simple, secure online portal.
Businesses can also use eFax to easily send or receive faxes on the go, directly from mobile devices, via a secure, simple mobile fax app.
Yes, and this is one of the many productivity-boosting benefits of the eFax business fax solution. It frees your employees from having to stand at a fax machine to redial a busy fax number.
With eFax, your staff can send a digital fax either by email or through the secure eFax online portal, and if the recipient’s number is busy, the system will automatically re-dial until it can successfully connect and transmit your fax.
The eFax default setting will retry a busy fax number five times, spaced across increasing delays between each redial attempt. In the case of a “human answered” error — in which the recipient’s fax number is also a phone number and answered accidentally by a person or voicemail — eFax will attempt just a single re-send.
You will also be able to tailor these settings to meet your business’s needs.
Yes, eFax customers can send digital faxes through the cloud to dozens of countries around the world.
eFax’s service includes 24/7 monitoring and technical support by trained support engineers. Additionally, our SLA (Service Level Agreement) includes a guaranteed 99.5% network uptime, which we support via failsafe measures such as maintaining geographically dispersed data centres across the UK (and worldwide), as well as with strong business continuity and disaster recovery engineered into our solutions.
Yes. eFax allows for two types of administrators on a business account:
- A corporate administrator (super-administrator) has full administrative privileges over the organisation’s entire eFax account and users
Note: an organisation can assign more than one corporate administrator. - A group administrator (sub-administrator) has authority to manage one or more groups of users, or subgroups.
Note: Group administrator management privileges can vary. The degree to which a group administrator will be able to manage his or her users depends on the permissions granted by the corporate administrator.
